Giving Back

Our VAHU Members give back to the communities in which they live and work!

We are proud to lend our time and support to great organizations all around the state!   We are also always looking for new organizations to support and new members to get involved!

In Northern Virginia, Britepaths Primary Programs Stabilize Families by providing short-term food and financial assistance and Build Resilience by providing mentoring, classes and longer-term guidance that help families help themselves out of their crisis and onto a path where they can plan for a stable future.

The Sweet Julia Grace Foundation (SJGF), based out of Bristow, VA (in Northern Virginia), is a non-profit, all volunteer organization, INSPIRED by, and in honor of Julia Grace Knight. Julia lived 12 beautiful years inspiring everyone who knew her, read about her, and loved her. SJGF celebrates Julia’s amazing spirit by blessing children who are chronically or seriously ill, have special needs, or in the midst of a medical crisis.

In Richmond, Bon Secours volunteers make a difference in the lives of others. Join our team of more than 1,200 dedicated volunteers and become a partner in providing "good help to those in need."

CVAHU will begin what we hope to be a long lasting relationship with The Evelyn D. Reinhardt House. Located on the Libbie Avenue side of the St. Mary’s campus, the 14,000-square-foot Evelyn D. Reinhart Guest House has 16 guest rooms and common areas for families to eat, relax, play, work and pray. This home away from home brings patients’ families together in a place where they can experience healing and community together. Since June 2014, the Evelyn D. Reinhart Guest House has supported more than 3,200 families. With only 5 staff members, they are dependent on dedicated volunteers who are sensitive to the needs of their families.

CVAHU will be preparing family dinner for the guests of the Reinhart House on the second Wednesday of each month beginning with March 14, 2018. Every CVAHU member will receive a SignUpGenius request to assist with the preparation of the meal. We will be looking for about 6 volunteers to help prepare the dinner each month. If anyone has any suggestions or feedback, please feel free to reach out to Kathie Naylor at 804-837-0059 or [email protected].

Deborah Hasenfus- Reinhart House Assistant: "I just wanted to let you know how very much all of our guests enjoyed the holiday meal! It was a real treat for them to come back to after long days at the hospital. As one guest said: 'This early Thanksgiving dinner so very special and so incredibly delicious!' Thank you for your continued support of our families here at the House!"
